Membership Rates

Membership rates apply to each skater. Family members in the same program cannot combine sessions for a discounted rate (Skate More, Save More).
There is no family discount for siblings.
Program prices reflect the number of classes for the day of the week. Some days have less classes due to holidays or special events.
Program prices are prorated after the first class.

Program Fees

Program fees are fully refundable up to the program start date listed for each program.
No refunds after the program start date except for medical reasons. Medical refunds are issued as a 3 year club credit except under exceptional circumstances approved by the Board of Directors.

Skate Canada Membership Fee

EACH SEASON, skaters must pay the Skate Canada Membership fee in addition to their program fees.
Valid from September 1st to August 31st each year.
Covers participation in Skate Canada programming and provides skater accident insurance.
NON-REFUNDABLE once submitted to Skate Canada.

Skater Registration Fee

EACH SEASON, skaters must pay the Registration Fee in addition to their program fees.
Valid for the current North Toronto Skating Season.
Registration Fee Discount if you register before October 1.
NON-REFUNDABLE after the skater’s first class.

Fundraising Initiative

EACH SEASON, skaters are required to purchase and sell one Fundraising Book of Tickets for the annual Ontario Skaters Promotional Contest.
The ticket book will automatically be added to your cart when you register.
This is our main fundraiser for the season.
NON-REFUNDABLE after the skater’s first class.

Club Membership Fee

Lifetime club membership paid when a skater first joins our club.
NON-REFUNDABLE after the skater’s first class.

Test Fees

Skate Canada assessments and test days are pay as you go for STARSkate levels.

Guest Skating Not Available while under COVID-19 protocols

Members and Non Members may guest skate up to 3 times per year.
$10 for Members / $20 for Non-Members.
Non-members may only skate on sessions for which they are qualified. NO EXCEPTIONS.
Guest skating will only be allowed on sessions with sufficient capacity at the discretion of the Club Administrator.
You must book your guest skate IN ADVANCE with the Club Administrator.
Guest skaters must sign in and pay the music room staff prior to their session. The music booth is located on the 2nd floor of the arena.

Free Wednesday morning sessions on a limited number of dates.
Access to Flex Members Only sessions.
Senior Skaters can add Intermediate only sessions as double sessions for an extra fee space permitting.

Skaters can help out in the music room, on ice as program assistants, at our test days and club competition. If you are in high school, this is a great way to earn your community hours!

Ice Safety / Awareness Rules

The North Toronto Skating Club has established the following ice rules for the purpose of providing safe skating conditions, a positive environment for learning, and a fun and enjoyable skating atmosphere.

General

Skaters and arena patrons are to behave in a respectful manner towards each other, Coaches, the Club Administrator and Arena Staff when at the arena.
No bullying or harassment will be tolerated among skaters.
Profanity, derogatory remarks or intentional physical contact are prohibited and will not be tolerated.
NO ROUGH PLAY, fighting or playing tag while on the ice or anywhere in the arena.
A parent or guardian must always be present in the arena for all skaters aged 12 and under.
Parents/guardians/caregivers are not allowed on the ice during skating sessions except during Parent & Tot sessions.
The main seating in the stands should be used to watch skaters. Only skaters, ice captains and coaches are allowed in the ice level areas during skating classes. All others will be asked to leave.
Skates should be put on and taken off in the change rooms only. Please do not use the stairs, hallways, or benches at the entrance to the ice to put on or take off skates.
Skate guards must be worn when off the ice.
Proper skating attire must be worn. Avoid loose pieces that can fall onto the ice.
Keep hair tied up and out of face.
Ice entry doors must be kept closed at all times. If you see them open, please CLOSE them.

On Ice Etiquette

Skaters must be aware of where other skaters and coaches are on the ice at all times to avoid collisions.
Skaters must always look where they are skating, especially when skating backwards.
Skaters must look both ways when entering the ice.
Right of way: Skaters performing to music being played, skaters being coached, followed by all other skaters.
Practice spins in the centre and jumps in the corners.
Skaters must not congregate in the centre of the ice or in front of the ice entry doors. If you need to talk, stand by the Boards or leave the ice.
Skaters must try to get up immediately after falling.
No gymnastics with skates on, on the ice or in the arena i.e. Hand stands or cartwheels.
No chewing gum or eating allowed on the ice. Skaters may drink from water bottles placed on the boards as long as it does not interfere with skaters on the ice.
iPods, MP3 players and cell phones must not be used at any time while on the ice.

Club Policies

The Volunteer Board of Directors sets policies to help run the day to day operation of the club.

Volunteering

Club members must volunteer a minimum of 1 hour of their time to help with the operation of the club.

Session Safety

Skaters and parents/guardians/caregivers must follow the Ice Safety / Awareness Rules at all times.

Coaching

Only NTSC coaches are allowed to teach on our sessions.

STARSkate coaches may occasionally give a lesson to a skater (NOT ALLOWED during 2020/21 Season):

During the first 20 minutes on a session one level up immediately following their regular session .
During the last 20 minutes on a session one level down immediately preceding their regular session.
The skater may not stay on the session outside of the 20 minute lesson.
There is no extra session fee charged for the 20 minutes of ice time.

Private coaching must be arranged directly with coaches. Fees for private lessons are paid to the coach and cannot be paid through the club.
