March 21, 2022

The NTSC Board has made the decision to keep our vaccination policy for those 12 and older in place for the remainder of the season as an added precaution against serious illness.

As of March 21, 2022 the province and city no longer require masks in public spaces.

We strongly recommend that skaters and spectators continue to use masks in areas of the arena where physical distancing cannot be maintained. Please respect everyone’s personal choice on this matter.

Health checks are still required. Please stay home if you feel unwell.

January 29, 2022

Club Reopens on January 31, 2022

All regular programs resume on Monday, January 31, 2022 as allowed under the new Provincial Guidelines.

Members will not be charged for classes missed during the club closure.

The last two installment payments have been moved to February 14 and April 1, 2022.

Proof of vaccination is required for entry into the arena for ages 12+ and masks are still required indoors.
At this time, we ask that only one parent /guardian enter the arena with their skater.

Toronto will be in Step 2 of the Provincial Reopening Act starting January 5, 2022.
The club will remain closed for all in-person classes while in Step 2.
Online dance, fitness, yoga and jump classes will be open shortly for Registration to keep our skaters engaged while off the ice.

Parents/Guardians in the Arena

Parent/guardians who are fully vaccinated may enter the arena, assist skaters to get ready and sit in the stands during the skater’s session.

October 8, 2021

Vaccination Requirements

Toronto’s Medical Officer of Health has issued a letter of instruction requiring all participants, coaches, caregivers, volunteers and officials aged 12 and older attending indoor organized sports to provide proof of vaccination starting November 1, 2021.


April 18, 2021

The Board of Directors has decided to close the club for in-person classes for the rest of the regular season. Our popular online classes will continue to run in May and June and we remain hopeful that Summer School will be allowed to run.

We wish you all a safe and happy spring and look forward to seeing you back on the ice in the summer and fall!

Toronto will move to the Provincial Grey – Lockdown Zone starting March 8, 2021.
The club will remain closed for all in-person classes while in the Grey Zone.

The Government of Ontario has declared a province wide shutdown until February 10, 2021.
The club will remain closed for all in-person classes.

The City of Toronto is under Ontario Grey Lockdown Zone Restrictions as of November 23, 2020.
Grey Lockdown Zone restrictions require the closure of all indoor rinks so our club must close.
Online dance, fitness and jump classes are open for Registration to keep our skaters engaged while off the ice.

Additional public health measures for Ottawa, Peel and Toronto effective Oct 10/20

At this time, we will be running all of our programs as usual. The restrictions placed on certain businesses in Ottawa, Peel and Toronto, as of now, do not affect North Toronto Memorial Arena. Should there be any changes or updates, we will notify you immediately.

August 25, 2020 – Changes for the 2020/21 Season

Learn to Skate

Age 3 – 7 Parent & Tot: This program is now available! New age range of 3 to 7 years old. Additional sessions have been added to the schedule.

Age 3 – 5 CanSkate A: Cancelled. If a skating adult is available to assist the skater on the ice, please register for Parent & Tot.

Age 6 – 9 CanSkate B: Skaters must have completed Stage 1 and be able to skate independently. Younger skaters who have passed Stage 1 and can manage a 1 hour session on their own can register for this program. A maximum of 36 skaters will be allowed per session. 

Age 10 – 17 IntroSkate: Currently unavailable. May be offered in October space permitting.

Skaters will be limited to ONE Learn to Skate program a week.

STARSkate

All sessions are running with a maximum of 19 skaters.
Senior and Advanced skaters are limited to a maximum of 8 sessions.
There will be no Flex (Full) Membership this season.
There will be no double sessions (skating down a level with a Flex Membership).
Wednesday 7:00 – 8:30am Intermediate/Senior/Advanced will run all year and can be added as a regular session.
Thursday 3:10 – 4:00pm Senior/Advanced can be added as a regular session

Off-Ice Training: Currently unavailable. May be offered online at a later date.

AdultSkate: Sessions will only run if a minimum of 12 skaters register in advance. No payment is required on registration until the session is confirmed.

Priority Registration for Returning Members

Learn to Skate: Priority registration for returning members until September 11, 2020. Registration will open to new members on September 12, 2020 at noon.

STARSkate: Priority registration for returning members until September 11, 2020. Priority registration for skaters coached by an NTSC coach at other clubs from September 12 – 18, 2020. Open to all skaters on September 19, 2020 at noon.

Registration is tentatively scheduled to open on September 1, 2020 at noon. Registration will not open earlier but may open later. Prior members will receive an email announcing registration once the date is finalized.

Payment
Payment will be made in 4 installments (Sep 1/20, Nov 1/20, Jan 1/21, Mar 1/21). In the event of a full club closure after the program start date, any installments owed before the closure are due in full and will not be refunded.

August 12, 2020 – 2020/21 Season

Our 2020/21 Season will proceed with modifications to our programs and schedule.

There will be no Learn to Skate for Age 3 – 4 (Parent & Tot) or Age 4 – 5 (CanSkate A).
Other programs are still under review and all programs will run with limited numbers.

Full program details and the final 2020/21 schedule will be available in late August.


July 27, 2020 – Summer School

NTSC Summer School will run from August 10 to September 4 for STARSkaters only. Special COVID-19 Protocols will be in effect and space is limited.


June 30, 2020 – Summer School

Full program details and the final 2020/21 schedule will be available in late August.

Summer School will not run in July as the North Toronto Memorial arena is not in operation.

STAR 1 -10 skaters can resume skating under the most recent Skate Ontario guidelines which respect the Ontario COVID-19 restrictions.

If you are interested in skating in July, please contact your coach to discuss private lessons at other rinks around the city that are currently operating.

NTSC Summer School will resume on August 10, 2020 for 4 weeks in a modified format. More information will be available in late July or early August.


May 15, 2020 – Skate Ontario Response to Ontario Reopening Plan

Ontario’s Stage 1 Reopening Plan includes figure skating as an activity that can resume on May 19, 2020. However, further planning is necessary before any Skate Canada club reopens.

May 10, 2020 – Online Classes via Zoom

We are excited to offer our Dance, Fitness and off ice Jump classes online via Zoom! 2019/20 Club members can register here for the latest sessions which run from May 18 – June 25, 2020.


May 5, 2020 – Summer School

We are hoping Skate Canada, the province and the City of Toronto will lift restrictions by late June so we can proceed with our Summer School. We will keep you posted.


April 2, 2020 – Club Closure

North Toronto Skating Club closed on March 23, 2020 due to the COVID-19 outbreak. 2019/20 Season members received non-expiring club credits for the 8 weeks of missed classes from March 23 – May 14, 2020.
